Might he outgun a French Protestant? (8)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

huguenot

'a french protestant?' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)

'might he outgun' is the wordplay.
'might' indicates anagramming the letters (I've seen this in other clues).
'he'+'outgun'='heoutgun'
'heoutgun' with letters rearranged gives 'HUGUENOT'.

(Other definitions for huguenot that I've seen before include "C16-17 French Protestant" , "Persecuted French protestant" , "French Protestant who may have emigrated to Ireland in 17th century" , "This French protester" , "Historically, a French protestant" .)

I've seen this clue in The Telegraph.
