Minds not being appreciated at home (5,5)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

brain drain

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'home' is the definition.
Although both the answer and definition are singular nouns, I cannot understand how they can define each other.

'minds not being appreciated at' is the wordplay.
I cannot really understand how this works, but
'being' could be 'brain' (brain is a kind of being) and 'brain' is located in the answer.
'at' could be 'in' (synonymous in some cases - eg at school, in school) and 'in' is found in the answer.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for brain drain that I've seen before include "Haemorrhaging of talent" , "Emigration of well-educated people" , "Emigration of talent" , "Migration of talent" , "Emigration of highly-skilled people" .)

I've seen this clue in the Evening Standard.
