Mountainous island in south Kerry for those on edge? (4)
I believe the answer is:
skye
'mountainous island' is the definition.
'skye' can be an answer for 'island' (Scottish island). I'm unsure of the 'mountainous' bit.
'south kerry for those on edge?' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'south' could be 's' (abbreviation) and 's' is present in the answer.
The remaining letters 'kye' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
'in' is the link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for skye that I've seen before include "Hebridean island close to mainland" , "Scot. island, toll bridge" , "Scots isle" , "part of Scotland" , "Large Scottish island" .)
