My hotel in Med resort in coastal route (8)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

corniche

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'route' is the definition.
(I know that Corniche is a type of route)

'my hotel in med resort in coastal' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'my' could be 'cor' (both are expressions of surprise) and 'cor' is found in the answer.
'hotel' could be 'h' (phonetic alphabet: alpha, bravo, charlie etc.) and 'h' is found in the answer.
'resort' could be 'nice' (French coastal resort) and 'nice' is found within the remaining letters.
No letters remain.
This explanation may well be incorrect...

(Other definitions for corniche that I've seen before include "cliff route" , "Cliff-side road" , "Roller" , "Coastal cliff road" , "coast road by a cliff face" .)

I've seen this clue in The Guardian.
