Mythical creature in mythology, tall tale with a twist in the tail? (7)
I believe the answer is:
lorelei
'mythical creature' is the definition.
(I know that Lorelei is a type of mythical creature)
'mythology tall tale with a twist in the tail?' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'mythology' could be 'lore' (I've seen this in another clue) and 'lore' is located in the answer.
The remaining letters 'lei' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
'in' is the link.
(Other definitions for lorelei that I've seen before include "Legendary siren and rock in the R Rhine" , "Temptress" , "Rhine Rock where sirens once dwelled" , "A Rhine maiden" , "Great Rock on the Rhine where 37 across lived" .)
