I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

This clue could be a double definition.

'naming two animals back' is the first definition.
Although both the answer and definition are adjectives, I can't understand how one could define the other.

'front' is the second definition.
Although both the answer and definition are adjectives, I can't see how they can define each other.

'to' acts as a link.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for eponymous that I've seen before include "To do with person whose name is identified with movement, title etc" , "named after me?" , "Like Salar the Salmon and Tarka the Otter" , "(Of a character) giving a play, book, etc, its title" , "Such as 16 in the play of that name" .)

I've seen this clue in The Independent.
