Nasty trick to control husband for now (9)
I believe the answer is:
meanwhile
'for now' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)
'nasty trick' is the wordplay.
'nasty' becomes 'mean' (similar in meaning).
'trick' becomes 'while' (I can't explain this - if you can you should give a lot more credence to this answer).
'mean'+'while'='MEANWHILE'
'to control husband' is the link.
I am not very happy about this link. Some or all of it may belong to another bit of the clue.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for meanwhile that I've seen before include "For the moment" , "In the interim" , "in intervening period" , "simultaneously" , "On the other hand" .)
