Nearly all of team drink around Spain and become tight (5,2)
I believe the answer is:
tense up
'nearly all of team' is the definition.
Although both the answer and definition are verbs in their base form, I cannot understand how one could define the other.
'drink around spain and become tight' is the wordplay.
'drink' becomes 'sup' (I've seen this before).
'around' indicates putting letters inside.
'spain' becomes 'e' (abbreviation for Espana).
'and' says to put letters next to each other (I've seen this in other clues).
'become tight' becomes 'ten' (I can't justify this - if you can you should believe this answer much more).
'sup' placed around 'e' is 'seup'.
'seup' after 'ten' is 'TENSE UP'.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for tense up that I've seen before include "Become stiff through stress or anxiety" , "become edgy" , "become uneasy" .)
