Crossword Genius

New screw turned and extracted again (7)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

redrawn

'extracted again' is the definition.

'new screw turned and' is the wordplay.
I cannot really understand how this works, but
'new' could be 'raw' (I've seen this in other clues) and 'raw' is located in the answer.
'and' could be 'n' (common abbreviation for 'and') and 'n' is found within the answer.
The remaining letters 'red' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This may be the basis of clue (or it may be nonsense).

(Other definitions for redrawn that I've seen before include "Plan may be updated" , "Depicted afresh" , "Provided with different plans" , "Delineated anew" , "pulled again?" .)

I've seen this clue in The Independent.
