Crossword Genius

New store runs rota (6)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

roster

'rota' is the definition.
(I've seen this in another clue)

'new store runs' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
an anagram of 'store' is 'roste' which is within the answer.
'runs' could be 'r' (cricket abbreviation) and 'r' is present in the answer.
No letters remain.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).

(Other definitions for roster that I've seen before include "List of people's turn of duties" , "Schedule" , "List of duties and those who are to perform them" , "Resort (anag)" , "Duty list for sorter" .)

I've seen this clue in The Times.
