Ross

I believe the answer is:

telegraph

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'newspaper' is the definition.
The definition and answer can be both man-made objects as well as being singular nouns.
Perhaps there's an association between them I don't understand?

'on strike the broadcast claims' is the wordplay.
'on' becomes 'leg' (cricket term, fielding positions).
'strike the broadcast' becomes 'teraph' (I am not sure about this - if you are sure you should give a lot more credence to this answer).
'claims' means one lot of letters goes inside another.
'leg' placed inside 'teraph' is 'TELEGRAPH'.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for telegraph that I've seen before include "Send message" , "Signal" , "Means of communication" , "paper" , "It's used for communications over wires" .)

I've seen this clue in The Telegraph.
