Nobleman, note, included in fifth level? (7)
I believe the answer is:
grandee
'nobleman' is the definition.
(I know that Grandee is a type of nobleman)
'note included in fifth level?' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'note' could be 'n' (abbreviation) and 'n' is present in the answer.
'level?' could be 'grade' (grading is a kind of levelling) and 'grade' is located in the leftover letters.
A single letter 'e' remains which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
(Other definitions for grandee that I've seen before include "Eminent man" , "Person of eminence" , "Spanish bigwig" , "aristocrat" , "A Spanish or Portuguese noble" .)
