uncertain

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'not confident' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)

'following united nations volunteers in ireland' is the wordplay.
'following' is a charade indicator (letters next to each other).
'united nations' becomes 'UN' (synonyms).
'volunteers in ireland' becomes 'certain' (I can't explain this - if you can you should give a lot more credence to this answer).
'un' put next to 'certain' is 'UNCERTAIN'.

'about' is the link.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for uncertain that I've seen before include "Lacking confidence" , "Not definitely known" , "Not convinced" , "Unsure" , "dubious" .)

I've seen this clue in The Telegraph.
