Not for the tail-wagging alsatian (4)
I believe the answer is:
anti
'not for' is the definition.
(I've seen this in another clue)
'the tail-wagging alsatian' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'the' could be 't' (the is pronounced as a 't' sound in some dialects) and 't' is located in the answer.
The remaining letters 'ani' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for anti that I've seen before include "(Person who is) not in favour" , "Adversary" , "Definitely not pro" , "Person opposed" , "Naysayer" .)
