Not just tasteful stuff in this display? (6)
I believe the answer is:
tattoo
'this display?' is the definition.
(I have seen 'Military display ' mean 'tattoo' so perhaps 'display' could also mean 'tattoo')
'not just tasteful stuff' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'not' could be 'o' (I've seen this in other clues) and 'o' is located in the answer.
'stuff' could be 'tatt' (I have seen 'tawdry stuff' mean 'tatt' so perhaps 'stuff' could also mean 'tatt') and 'tatt' is found in the answer.
A single letter 'o' remains which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).
'in' acts as a link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for tattoo that I've seen before include "Indelible picture made in the skin" , "Skin inking" , "that leaves a permanent impression on one" , "signal to return to base" , "Indelible impression" .)
