Not the only one in the soup! (6)

I believe the answer is:
lentil
'soup' is the definition.
(lentil soup is a kind of soup)
'not the only one' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'not' could be 'nt' (synonyms) and 'nt' is found within the answer.
'one' could be 'i' (Roman numeral) and 'i' is found in the answer.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
'in the' acts as a link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for lentil that I've seen before include "Pulse used in cooking" , "Small edible seed" , "Pulse used in soup" , "Food stuff" , "Leguminous vegetable" .)
