Note on career that doesn't read right (8)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

misprint

'that doesn't read right' is the definition.
(something wrongly printed)

'note on career' is the wordplay.
'note' becomes 'mi' (as in 'do re mi').
'on' means one lot of letters go next to another.
'career' becomes 'sprint' (career can mean to rush or speed out of control).
'mi'+'sprint'='MISPRINT'

(Other definitions for misprint that I've seen before include "Typo" , "could make sinners of the winners!" , "Possibly the wrong character" , "Typical accident" , "bad spell perhaps" .)

I've seen this clue in The Guardian.
