I believe the answer is:

howards end

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'novel' is the definition.
(novel by EM Forster)

'iron ship crosses without capsizing' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'ship' could be 'send' (synonyms) and 'send' is located in the answer.
The remaining letters 'howard' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This explanation may well be incorrect...

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for howards end that I've seen before include "E.M. Forster novel" , "Novel by E.M.Forster" , "Book by E.M. Forster" , "7 13 [VANESSA REDGRAVE] was in this" , "E. M. Forster novel" .)
