Crossword Genius

Now and again turns to the compere (9)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

presenter

'the compere' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)

'now and again turns' is the wordplay.
'now' becomes 'present' (the present time).
'and' says to put letters next to each other.
'again' becomes 're' (prefix meaning 'again').
'turns' says the letters should be written backwards.
're' reversed gives 'er'.
'present'+'er'='PRESENTER'

'to' is the link.

(Other definitions for presenter that I've seen before include "anchor?" , "Broadcast introducer" , "Compere" , "TV/radio introducer" , "shower" .)

I've seen this clue in the Evening Standard.
