Nuts like tackling digital problem (6)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

acorns

'nuts' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)

'like tackling digital problem' is the wordplay.
'like' becomes 'as'.
'tackling' means one lot of letters goes inside another (I've seen this in other clues).
'digital problem' becomes 'corn' (painful area on toes ie digits).
'as' placed around 'corn' is 'ACORNS'.

(Other definitions for acorns that I've seen before include "From which 23 down grow" , "Seeds of the oak" , "From which great oak trees grow" , "wild fruit" , "'Great oaks from little ...... grow'" .)

I've seen this clue in The Guardian.
