Odd, only one rose growing in a bed (5)
I believe the answer is:
osier
'growing in a bed' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)
'odd only one rose' is the wordplay.
I cannot really understand how this works, but
'one' could be 'i' (Roman numeral) and 'i' is found within the answer.
an anagram of 'rose' is 'oser' which is within the remaining letters.
No letters remain.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for osier that I've seen before include "Basket producer" , "Basket-making material" , "Basket material" , "Bit of tree" , "Twig used in basket-making" .)
