Crossword Genius

Offer something soft (6)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

tender

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'offer' is the definition.
(synonyms)

'something soft' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'something' could be 'er' (I've seen this in other clues) and 'er' is found in the answer.
The remaining letters 'tend' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This may be the basis of clue (or it may be nonsense).

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for tender that I've seen before include "Gentle and sore" , "Offer - sensitive to pain" , "Offer; delicate" , "Dinghy towed by a yacht" , "'Soft, sensitive offer? (6)'" .)

I've seen this clue in The Hindu.
