Old film star's answer provided while tucking into Orvieto? (9)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

valentino

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'old film star's' is the definition.
'valentino' can be an answer for 'star's' (I have seen 'Old star' mean 'valentino' so perhaps 'star' could also mean 'valentino'). I am not sure about the 'old film' bit.

'answer provided while tucking into orvieto?' is the wordplay.
I cannot really understand how this works, but
'answer' could be 'a' (abbreviation eg in Q and A) and 'a' is found in the answer.
'provided' could be 'lent' (I've seen this in another clue) and 'lent' is found within the answer.
'into' could be 'in' and 'in' is present in the answer.
This explanation may well be incorrect...

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for valentino that I've seen before include "Old star" , "Anti-novel about romantic star of silent cinema" , "movie idol" , "Rudolph -, twentieth century matinee idol" , "Rudolph ---, early US film actor" .)

I've seen this clue in The Times.
