Old Greek charged (5)
I believe the answer is:
ionic
'old greek' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)
'charged' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'charged' could be 'ion' (I've seen this in other clues) and 'ion' is located in the answer.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for ionic that I've seen before include "One of five classical orders of architecture" , "Architectural order" , "A type of classical Greek column" , "Pertaining to charged particle" , "Column from Greece" .)
