One demonstrating skill and power (8)
![Ross](/clue/static/ross-mug.min.png)
I believe the answer is:
exponent
'power' is the definition.
(I know that power can be written as exponent)
'one demonstrating skill and' is the wordplay.
I cannot really understand how this works, but
'and' could be 'n' (common abbreviation for 'and') and 'n' is located in the answer.
an anagram of 'one' is 'oen' which is present in the left over letters.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for exponent that I've seen before include "Interpretive artist or performer" , "Skilled performer" , "Promoter (of an idea or theory)" , "Symbol of power" , "Interpretive artist - open next (anag)" .)
