*one* flight (6)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

stairs

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

This could be a double definition.

'one' is the first definition.
Although both the answer and definition are singular nouns, I don't understand how one could define the other.

'flight' is the second definition.
(I've seen this before)

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for stairs that I've seen before include "Series of steps" , "A flight of indoor steps" , "Means of ascent/descent" , "Way between floors" , "Access consisting of steps" .)

I've seen this clue in The Guardian.
