One has a job to get money from one (8)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

employer

'one' is the definition.
Although both the answer and definition are singular nouns, I don't see how they can define each other.

'one has a job to get money from' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'one' could be 'o' (I've seen this in other clues) and 'o' is found in the answer.
'money' could be 'p' and 'p' is located in the answer.
'from' could be 'e' (I've seen this in other clues) and 'e' is present in the answer.
This explanation may well be incorrect...

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for employer that I've seen before include "One who engages workers" , "One engaging staff" , "One who uses" , "One for whom people work" , "One hires staff" .)

I've seen this clue in The Globe and Mail.
