Ross

I believe the answer is:

apricot

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'one may be stoned' is the definition.
I can't tell whether this defines the answer.

'nearly a month with little function' is the wordplay.
'nearly' means to remove the last letter.
'a month' becomes 'april' (April is an example).
'with' says to put letters next to each other.
'little function' becomes 'cot' (short for cotagent, a mathematical function. I am not sure about the 'little' bit.).
'april' with its last letter taken away is 'apri'.
'apri'+'cot'='APRICOT'

(Other definitions for apricot that I've seen before include "Soft, peach-like fruit" , "Rip coat (anag) - fruit" , "Orange-yellow fruit in plum family" , "Orange-coloured fruit" , "shade" .)
