One of those on a ship in The Channel (6)
I believe the answer is:
funnel
'the channel' is the definition.
(funnel is a kind of channel)
'one of those on a ship' is the wordplay.
I cannot really understand how this works, but
'one' could be 'un' (northern English dialect form of 'one') and 'un' is located in the answer.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
'in' acts as a link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for funnel that I've seen before include "Stack" , "Metal chimney on steamship" , "Smokestack on ship" , "Utensil aiding pouring" , "Conical utensil for transferring liquids" .)
