One or many men, maybe (4)
I believe the answer is:
unit
'men maybe' is the definition.
(I know that man is a type of being)
'one or many' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'one' could be 'un' (northern English dialect form of 'one') and 'un' is located in the answer.
The remaining letters 'it' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for unit that I've seen before include "Single element; one" , "Kitchen fitting" , "Specialised group" , "1 entity" , "Building block - small military force" .)
