Crossword Genius

One particular about their fare (7)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

epicure

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'fare' is the definition.
The answer and definition can be both people as well as being singular nouns.
Perhaps you can see an association between them that I can't see?

'one particular about' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'one' could be 'i' (Roman numeral) and 'i' is found within the answer.
'about' could be 're' (regarding) and 're' is located in the answer.
This explanation may well be incorrect...

'their' acts as a link.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for epicure that I've seen before include "One enjoying good food and drink" , "Person with refined tastes in food and drink" , "Bon vivant" , "discriminating person" , "An individual of some discrimination" .)

I've seen this clue in The Irish News.
