One plays around island or many islands in one place? (9)
I believe the answer is:
polynesia
'islands in one place?' is the definition.
'polynesia' can be an answer for 'islands' (I've seen this before). I'm unsure of the 'in one place?' bit.
'one plays around island or many' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'one' could be 'i' (Roman numeral) and 'i' is present in the answer.
'around' could be 'o' (I've seen this in other clues) and 'o' is located in the answer.
'many' could be 'l' and 'l' is found in the answer.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for polynesia that I've seen before include "Pacific island group" , "Antipodeans around here" , "Islands including Hawaii, Tonga, Samoa, etc." , "Pacific islands incl. N Zealand, Samoa and Hawaii" , "The islands of eastern Oceania" .)
