Crossword Genius

One who wrote less about truth, might we infer? (7)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

moliere

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'one who wrote less about truth might we infer?' is the definition.
The answer is a person as well as being a singular noun. This is suggested by the definition.

'one who wrote less about' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'one' could be 'li' (I've seen this in other clues) and 'li' is present in the answer.
'about' could be 're' (regarding) and 're' is found within the answer.
The remaining letters 'moe' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This explanation may well be incorrect...

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for moliere that I've seen before include "Fr. dramatist (Tartuffe)" , "French dramatist" , "Fr. comic dramatist" , "French writer" , "French playwright (Tartuffe)" .)

I've seen this clue in The Telegraph.
