Outlaw still short of one really good meal (7)
I believe the answer is:
banquet
'meal' is the definition.
(banquet is a kind of meal)
'outlaw still short of one really good' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'outlaw' could be 'ban' (banning is a kind of outlawing) and 'ban' is located in the answer.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for banquet that I've seen before include "Formal feast" , "A great feast" , "Spread" , "Sumptuous feast" , "Ceremonial meal" .)
