Over bowled from complex period of play (7)
I believe the answer is:
session
'period of play' is the definition.
'session' can be an answer for 'period' (session is a kind of period). I am not sure about the 'of play' bit.
'over bowled from complex' is the wordplay.
I cannot really understand how this works, but
'over' could be 'on' (physically on top of) and 'on' is located in the answer.
'from' could be 'e' (I've seen this in other clues) and 'e' is present in the answer.
The remaining letters 'sssi' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for session that I've seen before include "Time in legislature" , "Time of court's sitting" , "Hearing, sitting" , "Meeting, sitting, term" , "Meeting, of a court say" .)
