tudor

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'royal house' is the definition.
(the House of Tudor was a royal house)

'overthrow overthrown with involvement of daughter' is the wordplay.
'overthrow' becomes 'rout' (I've seen this in another clue).
'overthrown' says the letters should be written in reverse.
'with' is an insertion indicator.
'involvement of daughter' becomes 'd' (I am not sure about this - if you are sure you should believe this answer much more).
'rout' back-to-front is 'tuor'.
'tuor' going around 'd' is 'TUDOR'.

'in' acts as a link.

(Other definitions for tudor that I've seen before include "Member of the dynasty ruling England 1485-1603" , "Name of English royal family during 16th century" , "Royal house of Henry VIII" , "(Pertaining to) royal house" , "Rose" .)

I've seen this clue in The Independent.
