I believe the answer is:

subdues

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'pacifies' is the definition.
The definition and answer can be both to do with human feelings as well as being verbs in their -s form.
Perhaps there's a link between them I don't understand?

'subscriptions after bus trip' is the wordplay.
'subscriptions' becomes 'dues' (I can't justify this - if you can you should give a lot more credence to this answer).
'after' means one lot of letters go next to another.
'trip' indicates an anagram.
'bus' is an anagram of 'sub'.
'dues' put after 'sub' is 'SUBDUES'.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Another definition for subdues that I've seen is " Quietens, overcomes".)

I've seen this clue in the Sydney Morning Herald.
