Part of Germany: sport here always ignoring English (4)
![Ross](/clue/static/ross-mug.min.png)
I believe the answer is:
ruhr
'part of germany' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)
'sport here always ignoring english' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'sport' could be 'ru' (rugby union) and 'ru' is found within the answer.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for ruhr that I've seen before include "Flower from Germany" , "Ger. industrial region" , "River and industrial region of northwest Germany" , "Dortmund area?" , "Traditional region of German heavy industry" .)
