Part of the building where one gets fit for golf (5)
I believe the answer is:
gable
'part' is the definition.
(I have seen 'Part of house' mean 'gable' so perhaps 'part' could also mean 'gable')
'fit for golf' is the wordplay.
'fit' becomes 'able' ('able' can be similar in meaning to 'fit').
'for' says to put letters next to each other (I've seen this in other clues).
'golf' becomes 'g' (phonetic alphabet: alpha, bravo, charlie etc.).
'able' after 'g' is 'GABLE'.
'of the building where one gets' acts as a link.
This may not be correct. Some or all of it may be part of another bit of the clue.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for gable that I've seen before include "See 18" , "American actor" , "Triangular brickwork" , "Part between sloping sides of a roof" , "Actor's" .)
