Part of the rigging one can buy, by the sound of it (8)
I believe the answer is:
foresail
'part of the rigging' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)
'one can buy by the sound of it' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'one' could be 'i' (Roman numeral) and 'i' is present in the answer.
'it' could be 'sa' (old-fashioned abbreviation for sex appeal) and 'sa' is found in the answer.
The remaining letters 'forel' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
Can you help me to learn more?
(Another definition for foresail that I've seen is " part of the rigging".)
