Crossword Genius

Perhaps Hermes boxes might need initially to go on home insurance (9)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

indemnity

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'insurance' is the definition.
(I know that insurance can be written as indemnity)

'perhaps hermes boxes might need initially to go on home' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'home' could be 'in' ('he's home' can mean 'he's in') and 'in' is found in the answer.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for indemnity that I've seen before include "Protection" , "Security against damage or loss" .)

I've seen this clue in The Independent.
