Permit to build hotel's beyond reason (3,2,4)
I believe the answer is:
put up with
'permit' is the definition.
(putting up with is a kind of permiting)
'build hotel's beyond reason' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'build' could be 'putup' (putting up is a kind of building) and 'putup' is located in the answer.
'hotel' could be 'h' (phonetic alphabet: alpha, bravo, charlie etc.) and 'h' is found in the answer.
The remaining letters 'wit' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
'to' acts as a link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for put up with that I've seen before include "Bear" , "humour" , "Tolerate - endure" .)
