I believe the answer is:

bolivar

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'money' is the definition.
Although both the answer and definition are singular nouns, I can't see how one could define the other.

'personal problem rival wasted' is the wordplay.
'personal problem' becomes 'bo' (informal abbreviation for body odour).
'wasted' is an anagram indicator.
'rival' with letters rearranged gives 'livar'.
'bo'+'livar'='BOLIVAR'

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for bolivar that I've seen before include "Leader of several independence movements by Spain's South American colonies, d. 1830" , "Basic unit of money in Venezuela" , "Founder of Bolivia" , "Foreign brass" , "Revolutionary leader" .)

I've seen this clue in The Daily Express.
