Plate in church boosting capital? Quite the opposite (6)
I believe the answer is:
chrome
'plate' is the definition.
(I know that chrome is a kind of plate)
'church boosting capital? quite the opposite' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'church' could be 'rome' (I've seen this before) and 'rome' is found in the answer.
The remaining letters 'ch' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).
'in' is the link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for chrome that I've seen before include "used to make plate" , "A yellow colouring matter" , "Chinese callisthenic system" , "Metallic plate" , "Metal plating - type of yellow" .)
