Play mate never getting up to mischief? (2,5,7)
I believe the answer is:
an ideal husband
'play' is the definition.
(Oscar Wilde play)
'mate never getting up to mischief?' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'mate' could be 'husband' (husband is a kind of mate) and 'husband' is present in the answer.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for an ideal husband that I've seen before include "the perfect match?" , "comic drama" , "best man?" , "production around The Chilterns" , "Play by Oscar Wilde" .)
