Plot to incorporate one group split in two (8)
I believe the answer is:
bisected
'in two' is the definition.
(I've seen this in another clue)
'plot to incorporate one group' is the wordplay.
'plot' becomes 'bed' (a plot of land).
'to incorporate' is an insertion indicator.
'one' becomes 'i' (Roman numeral).
'group' becomes 'sect' (I've seen this in other clues).
'i'+'sect'='isect'
'bed' enclosing 'isect' is 'BISECTED'.
'split' acts as a link.
I am not very happy about this link. It may be part of another bit of the clue.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for bisected that I've seen before include "Cut into two, halved" , "Cut in half" , "Cut into two equal parts" , "split" , "Divided into two equal parts" .)
