Possibly bowdlerised edition ready (6)
I believe the answer is:
primed
'ready' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)
'possibly bowdlerised edition' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'edition' could be 'ed' and 'ed' is located in the answer.
The remaining letters 'prim' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for primed that I've seen before include "Prepared something for use or action" , "Made ready for action" , "Filled in" , "Made ready (to fire)" , "Loaded or put on a preparatory coating" .)
