I believe the answer is:

hindsight

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'post hoc ability' is the definition.
The definition and answer can be both related to thinking as well as being singular nouns.
Maybe you can see a link between them that I can't see?

'understand glimpse of deer?' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'glimpse' could be 'sight' (I've seen this before) and 'sight' is found in the answer.
'deer?' could be 'hind' (hind is a kind of deer) and 'hind' is located in the answer.
This accounts for all the letters.
This explanation may well be incorrect...

'to' is the link.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for hindsight that I've seen before include "Thinking back" , "Ken, after event" , "Wisdom after the event" , "Looking back" , "acquired too late to be useful?" .)

I've seen this clue in The Times.
