Ross

I believe the answer is:

likely

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'potential' is the definition.
(synonyms)

'kinetic energy is present in plant' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'energy' could be 'ke' (K.E. is an example) and 'ke' is located in the answer.
The remaining letters 'lily' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This may be the basis of clue (or it may be nonsense).

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for likely that I've seen before include "Promising; probable" , "Has a good chance of being the case" , "Promising, probably" , "Such as well might happen" , "Quite possible" .)

I've seen this clue in The Hindu.
