Powerless to move during a wild winter! (5)
I believe the answer is:
inert
'powerless to move' is the definition.
(I've seen this in another clue)
'during a wild winter' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'during' could be 'in' (e.g. during February means in February) and 'in' is located in the answer.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for inert that I've seen before include "Lacking vigour, inactive" , "Lifeless; apathetic" , "like nitrogen" , "Disinclined to act" , "Motionless or lifeless" .)
